The author, Arthur W. Pink, was born in Nottingham, England, in 1886 and experienced his spiritual rebirth in 1908 at the age of 22. He studied briefly at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago before beginning his pastoral work in Colorado. Over the years, he served in churches across California, Kentucky, and South Carolina, and even spent a brief period in Sydney, Australia, preaching and teaching. In 1934, at the age of 48, Pink returned to his native England and eventually took up permanent residence in Lewis, Scotland, where he remained until his death in 1952 at the age of 66.
