Pink was born in Nottingham, England on April 1, 1886. He became a Christian at the age of 22 in 1908, despite his previous involvement in a Theosophical society, which was a popular occult gnostic group in England at the time. His parents were Christians, but it was his father's patient admonitions from Scripture that led to Pink's conversion. Particularly impactful was the verse Proverbs 14:12, "there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death," which compelled him to renounce Theosophy and follow Jesus.
In order to deepen his knowledge of the Bible, Pink immigrated to the United States to study at Moody Bible Institute. In 1916, he married Vera E. Russell, a woman from Kentucky. However, just two months after their marriage, he left for Colorado, and then moved to California and Britain. He also served in Australia from 1925 to 1928, including as a pastor of two congregations from 1926 to 1928. He returned to England and then to the United States in the following year. Throughout his career, he pastored churches in Colorado, California, Kentucky, and South Carolina.
In 1932, Pink began publishing a monthly magazine called "Studies in the Scriptures," which reached English-speaking Christians worldwide, although it had a relatively small circulation list of around 1,000. After returning to England in 1934, Pink focused on writing books and pamphlets for several years. He passed away in Stornoway, Scotland on July 15, 1952, from anemia.
Following his death, Pink's works were republished by various publishing houses, including Banner of Truth Trust, Baker Book House, Christian Focus Publications, Moody Press, and Truth for Today. His writings reached a wider audience and had a significant impact on the revival of expository preaching and biblical living in the second half of the twentieth century, as noted by biographer Iain Murray. However, Pink is often overlooked in religious histories and left out of biographical dictionaries even today.
